Indigo dye is natural and environmentally friendly, requiring less water consumption than most other dyeing methods. Many are familiar with blue knees after wearing new jeans, which is a sign of indigo dyeing. To prevent the color from bleeding onto the skin, it is good to wash the fabric in a washing machine at 30–40°C with a tablespoon of salt in the drum. This helps to set the color and prevents it from running. This can be repeated during the first few washes.
