This beautiful and versatile fabric is suitable for many types of clothing: Dresses, tops, trousers, and even light outerwear/jackets. It has a soft and flowing drape with a matte finish. The linen gives the fabric a bit more density and a slightly uneven, raw texture, which also makes it easier to sew.
The fabric shrinks about 6% on the first wash, so it must be washed before cutting and sewing.
Composition: 85% Tencel™ / 15% linen
Width: 150 cm
Weight: 203 g/m² (6 oz)
Washing instructions:
– Soak before first wash
– Wash at low temperature with low spin
– Do not tumble dry
– Best to shake out of the machine and lay flat
– Iron at low temperature
– Wash garments inside out after they have been sewn
Note: The surface of Tencel will become slightly more matte with washing and use, and it will acquire a "washed" look.
Tencel™ is a cellulose fiber made from wood pulp sourced from sustainable and traceable forest plantations. Production takes place in a closed-loop system where up to 99% of water and solvents are recycled and reused, making the process much more environmentally friendly than cotton production.
The fabric is soft, durable, and wrinkles minimally. It has a silky drape, is breathable, and absorbs up to twice as much moisture as cotton. Tencel™ is suitable for sensitive skin, is antibacterial, and thermoregulating.
Production requires less water and energy than traditional natural fabrics, and the fibers are biodegradable. Dyeing is done with less dye, and manufacturers are constantly working on greener and more efficient methods.
